Precipitation Data API FAQs

The Precipitation Data API provides comprehensive data on average precipitation levels across various countries, including current and previous precipitation levels measured in millimeters, reference dates, and measurement units. This data is essential for environmental studies, agricultural planning, and climate research.

You can access the data from the Precipitation Data API using standard API calls that return data in JSON format, making it compatible with a wide range of applications for environmental studies and agricultural planning.

The primary use cases for the Precipitation Data API include climate research, environmental analysis, and agricultural planning, as it provides essential data for understanding precipitation patterns and trends.

The "POST countries by region" endpoint returns a list of countries categorized by region, while the "POST get precipitation data by country" endpoint provides detailed precipitation statistics for a specified country, including current and previous levels.

Key fields in the precipitation data response include "country," "latest" (current precipitation), "previous" (previous precipitation), "reference_date," and "unit" (measurement in millimeters).

The response data is structured in JSON format. The country list is returned as an array of strings, while precipitation data is returned as an array of objects, each containing key-value pairs for the specified fields.

The API covers five regions: America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Users can retrieve precipitation data for any country within these regions.

The "POST get precipitation data by country" endpoint requires a parameter specifying the country name to retrieve its precipitation data. The country list can be obtained from the first endpoint.

Users can analyze the precipitation levels to identify trends, compare current and previous data for specific countries, and apply this information to environmental studies or agricultural planning.

The Precipitation Data API aggregates data from reliable meteorological sources, ensuring that the precipitation statistics are accurate and up-to-date for each country.

Data accuracy is maintained through regular updates and quality checks, which include cross-referencing with established meteorological databases and standards for reporting precipitation levels.

Prices are determined by a recurring monthly or yearly subscription, depending on the chosen plan.
API calls are deducted from your plan based on successful requests. Each plan comes with a specific number of calls that you can make per month. Only successful calls, indicated by a Status 200 response, will be counted against your total. This ensures that failed or incomplete requests do not impact your monthly quota.
Zyla API Hub works on a recurring monthly subscription system. Your billing cycle will start the day you purchase one of the paid plans, and it will renew the same day of the next month. So be aware to cancel your subscription beforehand if you want to avoid future charges.
To upgrade your current subscription plan, simply go to the pricing page of the API and select the plan you want to upgrade to. The upgrade will be instant, allowing you to immediately enjoy the features of the new plan. Please note that any remaining calls from your previous plan will not be carried over to the new plan, so be aware of this when upgrading. You will be charged the full amount of the new plan.
To check how many API calls you have left for the current month, refer to the 'X-Zyla-API-Calls-Monthly-Remaining' field in the response header. For example, if your plan allows 1,000 requests per month and you've used 100, this field in the response header will indicate 900 remaining calls.

You can monitor your API usage through the response headers included with every request:

x-zyla-api-calls-monthly-used: Shows the total number of API requests you have used during the current billing period.
x-zyla-api-calls-monthly-remaining: Shows the number of API requests you have remaining for the current billing period.

The 'X-Zyla-RateLimit-Reset' header shows the number of seconds until your rate limit resets. This tells you when your request count will start fresh. For example, if it displays 3,600, it means 3,600 seconds are left until the limit resets.
